Sidra Smart, disillusioned
ex-wife of a fundamentalist preacher, never imagined herself running
a PI business, that is until she inherits her late brother's
detective agency.
Soon, a woman stumbles in with vague flashbacks of a 30-year-old
murder. Intrigued by the story, Sid takes the case and soon plunges
into a surreal world where the flames of Creole superstition and
passion burn as hot as the memories of child abuse, arson, and
murder.

I recall listening to tales twisted by my father, tales of his
childhood antics. I'd watch him laugh so hard in the telling that I
soon realized telling them was more fun than listening to them. This
must have planted a seed deep within my psychi, because my 4th grade
report card has this anotation written by my teacher: "Sylvia excels
in storytelling."
I believe stories connect us to our past and inspire us for the
future. That stories reflect life's lessons and connect us one to
the other. They humanize us, reflect our joys, our passions, our
sadness, our spiritual path. Stories create a civilization and hold
it together. They provide full-spectrum color in an otherwise black
and white world.
I encourage you to tell your stories to anyone who will listen and
ask them to tell you theirs. For in the telling, we find compassion,
understanding, acceptance and love.
